Newington Farm House

Newington Farmhouse is a traditional detached Cornish holiday cottage dating from the 1800s. It has a pretty and enclosed south facing garden with a sunny aspect which as a result is great for barbecues or just sunbathing in peaceful surroundings. There are stunning views overlooking Mount’s Bay and on towards the Lizard. The interior is tastefully furnished with plenty of original artwork on the walls.

There are two main reception rooms – one with a great wood-burner for winter evenings. The kitchen is fully fitted with ample crockery and cooking equipment. Upstairs there is a bathroom with toilet, sink, bath and shower facilities, one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a small single room. Also all the bedrooms enjoy spectacular views. A well-behaved dog is welcome and in addition a travel cot is available on request.

Newington Farmhouse is ideally located in the middle of West Penwith and consequently is a short drive to many fantastic beaches and coves. It is also close to Newlyn, Penzance, St. Ives and Mousehole harbour, which all are great places to explore. There are many walks straight from the cottage with Iron Age forts, wishing wells and beautiful countryside to discover. In conclusion, Newington is a great place to base a holiday in West Cornwal because whether you like surfing, walking, exploring hidden coves or just relaxing on a beach there is something there for everyone.

About

Originally part of the historic Boskenna Estate, Swallows Nest is a peaceful, secluded escape for two, set within beautiful far west Cornwall. It is full of rustic charm and character.

The approach to the cottage is along a tree lined driveway  with the cottage  situated opposite the friendly owners’ home, Boskenna Coach House. The  cosy sitting-room has  two comfortable sofas and a a wood-burner effect electric stove. This is a lovely spot to relax after a day of walking or generally exploring the area. Adjacent to this is the kitchen/diner which is fully equipped to allow for home cooking . Stairs lead up to the delightful bedroom, which has low sloping ceilings, beautiful antique furniture, and a luxurious memory foam mattress. The  shower-room is on the ground floor.

Outside there is a  sunny terrace with BBQ, a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the peaceful setting. The footpath just beyond the cottage meanders down through woodland to dog-friendly, picturesque St Loy’s Cove, and there  you can easily access the coast path with Lamorna to the East and Penberth Cove to the West.

Reviews

We had a great time here in Swallows nest” , extremely comfortable in this charming, well equipped cottage, it’s in a perfect location , very quiet and peaceful , close to the magnificent St Loys cove just a pleasant walk through the ancient woods to the rocky beach and the clear blue sea. Not far from picture perfect Mousehole and delightful Lamorna cove . The Lamorna Wink is a great pub for a beer and a bite to eat , very friendly. All our favourite places are close by and we will never tire of visiting this beautiful part of  Cornwall . Thank you . Steve , Julie and Ted ( the dog ) May 2026

“Gorgeous lil cottage for our stay in Cornwall over the bank holiday weekend.” Great location for us as it’s walkable to the coastal path and then could walk from there along beautiful cliffs and to incredible beaches. The cottage itself was cosy and surprisingly spacious, we felt right at home. The host was lovely too! Thanks again for our stay! Penelope May 2026

West Penwith

Swallows Nest is in the Lands End peninsular and so is only a few miles from the expansive surf beach of Sennen on the north coast of Cornwall, yet it is also close to the sheltered coves of Porthcurno, Lamorna and Mousehole on the south coast. The Minack Theatre and St Michaels Mount are both located a few miles away. The fishing port of Newlyn with its vibrant harbour is about 5 miles away whilst the thriving market towns of Penzance and St Just are close by. St Ives is only a short drive away and is famous for the large artist’s community and sandy beaches. For trips further afield Lands End airport flies regularly to the Scilly Isles.

Boskenna is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty making it a popular destination for walkers. The Merry Maidens and St. Loy cove are within walking distance of the cottage. Guests enjoy the tranquillity of a cottage which is only a stone’s throw from so many holiday activities. The recent film, Summer In Februaury, focuses on the lives of artists living in the area at the turn of the century.
